ELF: Brushes

A couple of months ago, i had this desperate wanting of buying a lot cosmetics and makeup brushes. I wrote about it here in this post. I mentioned that i was dying to receive my ELF brushes from the online spree i joined. And now here they are!

Well actually i received them and even took pictures like damn long ago, but i’m only writing about it now cause i didn’t have the mood before. Woops!

From left to right:

1. Eyelash and Brow wand
2. Smudge Eye
3. Small Precision
4. Eyeshadow C
5. Concealer
6. Blush
7. Angled Foundation

The total cost = RM 75

I was really satisfied with my purchase cause for that kind of price, i managed to buy 7 brushes! I don’t think you can even buy one brush from MAC for RM 75. Well, not that i know of anyways.

So far i’ve only used the concealer and angled foundation brush, which explains why the brushes looked used in the pictures. I couldn’t wait for close up pictures cause i was in a hurry to use them.

So what’s the verdict?

The Good

  • The brushes are really soft and smooth. Never went back to my MAC 188 brush for foundation since.
  • The price for this quality makes me jizz
  • The reviews on the ELF website were really helpful and trustable

The Bad

  • It took ages for the brushes to arrive cause i bought them from an online spree at the forum
  • The Studio brushes are only available on the US website. In fact, same goes to a lot of other ELF products
  • I was a little disappointed due to my carelessness. I failed to read the details regarding the Smudge Eye brush; it’s actually a sponge instead of a brush brush.

Conclusion
Well, i wouldn’t make a big hoohaa bout the brushes cause.. they’re just brushes. But i do like them and i enjoy using them. It was a very good purchase. I guess the main highlight is that for that kind of price, the quality of the brushes are somewhat amazing.

Plus the reviews on the ELF website really helped a lot and i’m glad that the brushes performed the way the reviews said they would. I guess for products like these it’s worth the wait :)

The Album Leaf Live in KL

flyer_600_std

The Album Leaf is the solo project of Jimmy LaValle, a San Diego-based songwriter who began recording solo material one year after forming the post-rock band Tristeza. Inspired by a number of genres — classical, jazz, and post-rock among them — LaValle constructed his own songs in a similarly eclectic manner, utilizing everything from ambient noise to field recordings to radio transmissions.

The music of The Album Leaf has been described as “celestial”, “ethereal”, “lustrous” and having a “calm ferocity” in recordings. But performing live, the act creates a soundscape and vibe on a whole new level of experience

I’ll be seeing them tomorrow! I’m going with two boys who are big fansees and i can’t wait to see how they react when they see The Album Leaf play live. Here’s one of their songs that i like, hope you’ll enjoy it :)
