deadmau5 Live in KL 070511

I was just going through my folder and thinking bout what i should blog next, and i found these bunch of pictures. They were taken a couple of months ago during the deadmau5 (pronounced as dead mouse) party.

I’m so glad we decided to go for this. It’s been a while since i went to an outdoor party. And this one was such an experience!

The lights. The visuals. The lights and visuals!

Oh yeah.

So anyway, we had a little pre-party with some food and drinks at Opera around the evening. I can’t believe we lasted the whole night. From the pre-party, to deadmau5, then an after party at Zouk Barsonic for OMFG!

We were drinking continuously since 5pm until 3am. And apparently towards the end of the night i looked quite smashed. Derp!

Customau5 rolls with us! *tumpang glamour*

Sonzy and Kohei

Wore my Minnie Mouse headband that Pepsi got from Tokyo Disneyland for the fun of it :)

Some pictures were stolen from Sonia, btw. Cause i cannn.

One of the best moments was when he played Raise Your Weapon – a sweet orgasmic blend of electro and dubstep.

When the dubstep kicked in i was like, “Sweet Jesus have mercy“.

I love listening to dubstep. And even more so when it’s loud and live at an outdoor event. Though some people might not enjoy it, i do believe that sharing is caring.

Penang Island 090711

Earlier this month, Hoong and i had a little road trip up to Penang to attend a friend’s wedding over the weekend.

That weekend was quite a memorable one because we left on the day they had the Bersih rally in KL. And i couldn’t help but to think of that line from Transformers 3 – where were you when they (Bersih) took over the city?

… At Penang eating prawn mee.

So anyway, instead of staying for a night just to attend the wedding, we decided to extend our stay to two nights so that we would have more time to go food hunting.

It was quite tough getting out from the city on that Saturday. But once we got out, it was smooth sailing until Penang. I stayed up during the whole ride up to Penang. Occasionally reading him tweets regarding the Bersih rally and random gossiping.

Hugging companion

It’s been ages since i had a road trip to Penang. I used to go there quite often when i was younger with my family.

I felt like a kid again when we finally arrived at the island.

Captain Panda

It was already 5pm then. Hoong insisted that we should go nibble on some good Penang food because it’s somewhat a “tradition”.

And according to him, he always makes his first stop at this particular place at McCalister street for some zhu zap chuk.

I’m so glad he brought me there. It was one of the best porridge i ever had and if not, it was the best i have ever had. And i’m not even a porridge person.

Had some good ol’ prawn mee too

After a satisfying late lunch, we headed to our hotel at Gurney Drive. But that’s not before driving around the city for quite a while because we got kinda lost *ahem*

Hoong picked G Hotel for our stay, and i must say that i really liked that hotel. The staffs were friendly and efficient, the hotel has a very nice environment and it’s connected to the mall along with a hawker stall joint just down the road.

We even had complimentary ice-cream while checking in with not just one, but two flavours to choose from.

To the hotel room!

Note: King-sized bed

Everything in the mini bar was complimentary! Yes, including the Kit Kat bar

Later that night..

At the Shangri-La

And Kel Li was at the wedding too. Picture from her camera

It’s funny how small the world can be when you see familiar faces at the wedding, but you’re invited separately by the host.

We were colleagues of the bride (actually just Hoong, i’m just a plus one) and Kel Li and the rest were friends of the bride. And we all end up in the same place, just seated at different tables.

Btw my hair looks quite fabulous cause i went to the salon’s to get it washed and blow dried. If only my hair always looks this good.

So anyway, after the dinner Hoong and i explored Batu Ferringhi for a bit. We particularly went to Sixty9ine Mansion because i’ve been wanting to take a look at that place. We didn’t stay for long though. We just had a drink and left back to the hotel after.

Fast forward to the next day!

Muka miang on the left. LOL!

At Bangkok Lane in search of the legendary mee goreng

Sweet Jesus have mercy..

Then, Air Hitam for some asam laksa..

A face that says it all

After our double lunch, we took the opportunity to be all touristy around Penang and visited the Kek Lok Si Temple. We parked our car and walked all the way up to the temple.

It’s not a good idea to wear a maxi dress for this occasion cause you wouldn’t want to end up looking very unlady-like while climbing up the stairs like i did.

We stopped at the Liberation Pond halfway for about 5 minutes to feed the turtles. I also took the chance to catch my breath from all that climbing. I’m starting to think that i’m a really obese person in a thin person’s body -_-;;

Bought about RM 5 worth of veggies for the turtles

Looking like a fair maiden thanks to Hoong’s artistic shot *ahem*

Oh thank you, thank you, thank you!!

Stopped at a pond to throw coins into the lucky frog’s mouth

I wasn’t very good at it, but i was a sore loser so i kept trying but still no luck.. and skills

Took the tram up to see the giant Kuan Yin

Peaceful and calm; happiness

Stopped to toss a few more coins on the way down. Got it on his first try *hiss*

Went to get some refreshing cendol after leaving the temple

Somewhere on the streets

After that i started having a headache that progressively got worst. I tried taking a nap at the hotel before dinner but it didn’t go away. We were supposed to have crabs for dinner but we had to change our plans since i wasn’t feeling too well.

So that night we had a simple dinner at the hawkers on Gurney Drive. As usual, we left the place feeling stuffed.

But somehow, i always wake up hungry the next day. It was our last day in Penang, so we treated ourselves some good lunch at another Penang hotspot, Nasi Kandar Line Clear.

Oh sweet Jesus have mercy.. the fried chicken was so good

My headache came back again so i took the chance to sleep during our journey back to KL. That with a full tummy like the fat person i secretly am.

I’m really happy that we had that trip. I’m so lucky to be pampered with a good place to stay along with good food. Thanks, love :)

Now if i had to pick my favourite meal in Penang, i’d say it’s a tough choice between the zhu zhap chuk and mee goreng. I wonder if we could find a dupe here in KL.

To me, it’s funny as hell. Hoongmao and i even sang this song twice in the car on our way back home after a Saturday night out. I know i know.. what kind of parents do i have. But this has nothing to do with them because THE INTERNET DID THIS TO ME!

Hide yo kids, hide yo wife.
