Last of the Wedding Trilogy

The pictures from the wedding dinner came in just last week, so here are some that i picked out and edited from the bunch.

The wedding dinner was at Five Sense, The Westin

The reception table, which my brother-in-law tried decorating but ended up with me rearranging everything, haha!

I did all the flower arrangements for the reception table using various vases sizes. For the fun of it, i even used a wine glass. The rose petals are from left over roses that we brought along just in case. The tea light holders and vanilla-scented tea lights are from Ikea.

Lovely red velvet cupcakes from Nora

My sister thought long and hard on what to get as wedding favors for the guests, but in the end she fell back to what she always loved… cupcakes!

I knew we had to go for Nora’s cupcakes because her signature design for cupcakes is rose swirls. We customized the colour of the cupcakes’ frosting to pastel pink, turquoise and cream so we’d have a variety of colours. Nora was even kind enough to include an extra cupcake for me :3

Dainty champagne flutes from Vera Wang, which my sister got as a wedding gift

Unfortunately, that’s about it on the decorations. I wanted to show you guys more on the decorations because it’s all our hard work. I guess i should’ve asked the photographer to highlight on the decorations as well, but i was so busy setting up i didn’t even get to brief him properly. It completely slipped my mind.

I was working on overdrive from morning until dinner time since i didn’t get much rest the day before. By the time dinner was served, all i did was just sit down on my seat and eat. It was bliss because i was finally able to take a break and rest.

Oh well, it’s all over and done now. Honestly i think wedding planning is quite fun. Seeing pretty flowers all around gives me a good feeling (^v^)

Eye-Conic for Shu Uemura

Just two days ago, i did a job for Shu Uemura in conjunction of their upcoming 30th anniversary makeup collection, Eye-Conic.

It was the first makeup-related job that had the earliest call time of 8am. I woke up around 6.45am when it was still dark to get ready because i was worried that the traffic would be bad on the way there. It was definitely the earliest i’ve woken up in a long long time.

The location for the job was at their headquarters. In case you didn’t know, Shu Ueumura is one of the many brands under the L’Oreal Company. So you could say it was quite fun visiting their office cause i got to see the insides of a beauty company. I even got to see the training rooms for a few brands that are under L’Oreal, with product displays and all!

The job was actually very simple. Four other girls and i just have to showcase the key looks for the new collection to the staffs.

By doing a little catwalk.

It was all good fun. I met some new girls and we had a good time talking and all. Plus, how can you not have fun when it comes to makeup? :D

It was a two day affair and i posted up the looks for both days on Instagram. I don’t know why some people reacted so negatively to the makeup. Yes, it’s unconventional, but no one said this kind of makeup is for daily wear! It was just for show, for goodness’ sake. Some people can be so annoying. How i wish they can be more open minded and just accept things the way they are.

My Photoshop Masterpiece

Recently, i came across some old pictures that reminded me of when i first started using Photoshop. Photoshop… a word that everyone is now familiar with. Photoshop has been and still is a big part of my life. In fact, my Photoshop is always open and ready to use on my laptop.

To be honest, i think a lot other people uses Photoshop too. The real question is how good are they with it?

I had my first experience with a photo-editing software when i was about 14 years old. I had a new scanner (or was it a digital camera?) and the installation CD came with a photo-editing software. I started out small – experimenting with simple things such as making pictures brighter and removing red eyes with the red-eye tool.

Soon, i was playing around with Adobe Photoshop. I don’t even know how it got there cause it was so long ago i can’t remember. There was so many fun things to do with Adobe Photoshop. I was looking up tutorials and learning how to edit pictures on Photoshop; make it look dreamy and whatnots. I was even making simple “3D” art.

My most favourite thing to do with Photoshop however was “photo manipulation”. Okay i have to confess, if you Google ‘photo manipulation’, what i did was no where near those incredibly beautiful and amazing artworks. I mean, c’mon, i was like 15?

All i did was mess around with pictures of my friends Jason and made him look silly. Mind you i was quite good at it… good at making him look silly, that is. And i got better over the years. Not only Jason was my muse, he was also my “biggest fan”. If i was a painter, he’d be an art collector who buys every one of my paintings because he loves whatever i photoshop!

Look at this picture.

  1. There’s actually no smoke.
  2. He’s not actually holding a cigarette.
  3. He’s not actually red from all the alcohol.
  4. Yes, it’s actually just a really bad picture of him.

How did all those elements get there?

WRONG. It’s Photoshop!

If you think that was amazing, wait till you see my next masterpiece. Are you ready?

You sure?

Okay!

Favourites: May 2013

IMG_3278

I don’t always buy new products to try and all, but i do change my makeup routine a little every once in a while. Although most of the time i’ll switch to something that i already have, sometimes i would also use new stuff. I thought it’ll be nice to share my own favourite things since i always see people sharing their favourites on YouTube.

Since it’s still a little early for June, i thought i’d share my favourites for last month instead.

Shu Uemura UV Under Base BB Mousse + Urban Decay De-Slick Oil-Control Makeup Setting Spray

For the month of May, i’ve been obsessed about prepping my skin before makeup. And if i know i’ll be out all day, i’ll make an effort to set my makeup with the setting spray.

Yves Saint Laurent TOUCHE ÉCLAT – Radiant Touch + The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer Highlighter

Also started to highlight my face every time i put on makeup, particularly my nose. It really makes a difference especially in pictures. Gotta be careful with highlighting though cause too much will make you look weird instead.

IMG_3290

Last but not least, the Urban Decay Naked Palette and of course, the Primer Potion that came with it. The palette will always be a favourite, but the real question is which shade is my favourite this month?

Throughout May, i’ve been using Virgin, Naked and Buck together a lot for my everyday look. And just last week i started using Sidecar for my inner corners and it looks great because it’s glittery.

And that is all for May! I wonder what’s in store for June…

Shall We Vine?

twitter-vine-app

Vine is a mobile service that lets you create and share short looping videos. Videos you post to Vine will appear on your Vine profile and the timelines of your Vine followers. You can also share your video posts to Twitter or Facebook.

Last night, i downloaded Vine from the App Store. After exploring Vine for a bit and fooling around with it together with Hoong, it made me think why didn’t we get this sooner. More importantly, why isn’t everyone here using it yet?!

I’m quite impressed with the app’s interface – no surprises there as the app is from the same people who made Twitter. I really hope Vine will pick up here in Malaysia. Wouldn’t it be interesting to pick it up a notch from still pictures on Instagram to videos?

There’s all kinds of videos on Vine – funny, interesting, cute and even plain ridiculous ones. Here are some of my favourites:

p/s: Enable sound!

I’m gonna try making a Vine!
