Introduction to Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest

Hot damn!

You know what, i’m starting to think that October is the month to be. Not only it’s my birthday month (ahem) but it’s also the time of Oktoberfest!

To be honest with you, about two weeks ago i was set on cutting off beer completely. I didn’t care what was gonna be my next casual drink. It could be anything from hard liquor to pussy cocktails, as long as it’s not beer. But when i heard that there was gonna be Oktoberfest, i knew it was the end of me.

.. True story.

Well, this year Carlsberg Malaysia has teamed up with a few other German brews to give us a chance to experience the real Oktoberfest by creating Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest. It’s a month long affair of beer, food, and music starting from 21st September till 20th October 2011 at over 25 participating outlets and 18 market squares throughout Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Seremban and Johor.

Think Oktoberfest beer girls with huge ass beer mugs.

Yes, i approve.

I never thought i’d be a beer person. However judging from my consumption and occasional cravings, i guess i am. And if you think you’re not, i reckon you should try some of the beers at Oktoberfest.

Carlsberg (5% ABV/ alcohol), a lager beer founded by J.C. Jacobsen in 1847 and is an international beer originating from Denmark.

Erdinger Weissbier (5.3% ABV), pioneered in the 70′s, was the first German wheat to be distributed nationwide in Germany. Erdinger is brewed according to traditional recipes and has no preservatives, additives and pasteurization, complying with the Bavarian Purity Law 1516.

Franziskaner Weissbier (5% ABV), a traditional Bavarian wheat beer with more than 600 years of history, is refreshing and aromatic in character. This Bavarian beer is naturally cloudy and copper-coloured and enhanced with a sweet malt taste with a smooth creamy texture for finish.

Lowenbrau (5.2% ABV), an original “German Munich Beer”, is famous at Oktoberfests. It is a lager beer that is refreshing with a taste of malt and mild hop bitterness. The beer is light to the taste, bright golden yellow in colour, and truly complements the Bavarian drinking experience.

I personally like Franziskaner the best. It’s really smooth and it’s somewhat sweet. Not as bitter as some beers, at least. And yes, it’s pronounced as how it’s spelled.

There’s gonna be a wholesome entertainment at Oktoberfest with all the best elements combined. Plus, you’ll get to experience the signature chicken dance!

If you’re still not convinced, here’s a couple more pictures to entice you ;)

So come on and join the Oktoberfest! There’s still plenty of time and in fact, there’s gonna be one this weekend at One Utama.

You can also stand a chance to win “The Ultimate Beer Tour” which is a 6 days 5 nights trip to Munich, Germany and Copenhagen, Denmark with 2 friends! All you gotta do is participate in the Facebook contest on Malaysia’s Own Oktoberfest Facebook page :)

DOVE Chocolates

img_3525

Okay so it’s kinda sad to say that recently i’ve been spending most of my time on trying to study. I really hate studying and i’m sure that most of you share the same sentiment.

When i’m not studying, i most probably will be playing Left 4 Dead 2 on xbox 360 with the panda. A choice between studying graphs and shooting zombies, obviously i’d pick the latter.

To be honest, i’m not very productive during the day. Some how i prefer to study during the night. I study a bit here and there and take long naps during the day, and drill books during the night. But one thing bout studying until late nights is.. the hunger.

I’m bound to get hungry. And that’s when i start going sidetrack. This situation would’ve been different if i had something to munch on.

And what could be a better than chocolates.

img_3527

DOVE chocolates are creamy and smooth, just the way i like it. When i’m studying until past midnight, it’s really comforting to have some chocolates. After all they are comfort food.

DOVE chocolates come in a variety of flavours and it hits the spot for everyone. The available flavours are bound to be someone’s favourite.

img_34811

There’s Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate, Crispy Chocolate with crispy rice, and Hazelnut, Almond and Raisin Chocolate.

So which one of these is your pick?

I’ll definitely go with the Crispy for now cause i’m in need of some serious munchies.

Hurts: Happiness album review

About a couple of weeks back, i’ve mentioned to you guys about this new duo from the UK called Hurts. Well thanks to Sony Music, i’m gonna be sharing their first album with you guys!

It’s always nice to open up to new things, especially when it comes to music. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. So i hope you guys will open up to new music with me in this post :)

The album by Hurts is titled Happiness and it contains a total of 11 tracks.

img_2870

img_2890

img_2872

Despite the album being named Happiness, the vibe that this album is sending off is quite the contrary. It’s not just the album packaging, but also the music itself. It somewhat has a gloomy vibe.

The album doesn’t have much colour, in fact it’s entirely black and white. Even the contents of the booklet is in monochrome. Though it might come off as boring, but i think it gives the album a very sleek and classic touch.

The tracks are pretty much like the colours in the album too. Most of the tracks contain strong words which are about heartbreaks and such. Like don’t leave me, i’m lonely that kinda stuff.

img_2881

img_2882

img_2876

Although most of the tracks sound gloomy, the combination of classical instruments here and there with electronic sounds sets Hurts apart from being labelled as emotional. It’s really different.

And the voice! Oh the voice!

I know i said that his voice reminds me of The Killers before, but now i feel so embarrassed for saying so. Theo Hutchcraft sounds nothing like that! Every note he sings is so soothing in a way.

I think Theo Hutchcraft has one of the nicest voice. It’s like you can tell from his voice that he’s handsome, thus i’ll describe his voice as a handsome voice.

img_2879

img_2877

img_2878

It’s really hard to decide which one of my favourites i wanna share with you guys here. I have a liking for the tracks here and there like in terms of tune, instruments, lyrics and such.

But i suppose i can share the others with you guys next time. For now i’ll pick two songs to share with you guys! :)

The first one would be the first track in the album titled Silver Lining. The second song would be Stay, which is the fifth track in the album.

And I won’t let you drown, when the water’s pulling you in
I’ll keep fighting, I’ll keep fighting
The rain’s going to follow you wherever you go
The clouds go black and the thunder rolls
And I see lightning, and I see lightning

I really like the starting of the song and for some reasons, that particular part of the song.

We say goodbye in the pouring rain
And I break down as you walk away
(Stay!) (Stay!)
‘Cause all my life I’ve felt this way
But I could never find the words to say
(Stay!) (Stay!)

Well it would be nice to hear from someone that appreciates the music from Hurts. Also, i hope that everyone would listen to them with an open ear because i know it’s not easy when it comes to something different :)

La Senza Fall 2010 Collection

img_2715

Last week i was invited by La Senza to go visit their store at Pavilion to check out their latest fall collection with two other bloggers.

It was quite exciting because it’s such a rare opportunity for me to receive such invitation, what more by a brand that i actually buy.

So when we arrived at the store, we met up with Jeslyn and Mei Ling from La Senza. After a quick introduction, Mei Ling took over and showed us around the store while introducing us to La Senza’s 3 main collections for this year’s fall.

La Senza Double Push Bra

img_2765

First up, is the La Senza Double Push Up Bra collection.

The Double Push Up Bra is described as a total knockout bra. It has such intense lift that it instantly doubles your cup size that gives you extreme cleavage!

The special thing about La Senza bras is that the bras have built-in paddings unlike other bras in which the paddings are removable. The Double Push Up Bra has a built-in lightweight foam padding, so it doesn’t weigh you down despite its extreme paddings.

Also, this Double Push Up Bra has paddings up to 3/4 of the cup! Most push ups only have paddings up until half of the cup. This is the magic behind the Double Push Up Bra.

Some of you may also notice that recently the products at La Senza have more variety of colours. So many that some parts of the store looks like a rainbow. It’s such a visual stimulation, i know.

This year’s colours for the fall collection include such colours like dark purple, satellite blue, and turquoise to name a few.

Btw, did you know that La Senza is now under the same company as Victoria Secret? :)

Next is the Perfectly Me collection.

img_2760
La Senza Perfectly Me

img_2761

img_2762

As you can see, this collection comes with a wider range of colours. I think the colour that stands out the most is the orange. It’s such a different colour and you don’t get to see this kind of colour a lot for lingerie.

The Perfectly Me collection is pretty much like the essential bras that you must have. There are three different types of bras for this collection.

Deep Plunge Push Up Bra
Sleek and perfectly seamless with lined underwire cups and built-in padding.

Lace Push Up Bra
Sexy laced bra that comes with integrated or removable paddings. It is also seamless and smooth.

Lightly Lined Bra
Sleek and lightweight with perfectly seamless cups and underwire support.

All bras come with adjustable straps and can be worn classic, crossed or halter. Perfect for shape shifting from wearing t-shirts to racerbacks! :)

Now that you’ve seen two collections, now it’s time for the last one from La Senza. The Cotton collection!

img_2775

img_2770

img_2763

img_2751

The Cotton collection is described as the softest, stretchiest, sexiest cotton ever. And i agree.

The collection comes in a huge variety in terms of styling, design, colour and pattern. There’s push up and lightly lined cups. Lace and no lace. Ribbons and bows.

Colours! As i mentioned before, the colours for fall this year is purples and blues. However you can also see a lot of pinks and greys. And not forgetting patterns such as gingham, polkadots, and tartan.

My favourite has definitely got to be the cotton undies. They’re cute and very comfortable. Plus point cause you can get 5 of them for RM 89!

After the briefing, we proceeded to the fitting rooms to get our bra size checked. Everyone can get a free bra fitting at any La Senza store, all you gotta do is just ask! :)

La Senza was very kind to let us try on any bra we want. So once we were done with our bra fitting, we went around the store choosing which bras we wanted to try. I literally picked a handful of bras. I was like picking bras like how a China lady picks and plucks tea leaves *paiseh*

img_2724
Hu Ge!

img_2737

img_2739

Unfortunately, out of the 7 bras i picked, i only liked 2. A Weightless Strapless Convertible bra and a La Senza Itec Push Up Bra. Don’t get me wrong the other bras are great, especially the Double Push Up Bra. But i wanted to go for a bra design that i don’t have at home.

I had the two transferred to the counter while i toured around the store some more.

When i looked around enough, it was time to check out. As a token of appreciation, La Senza gave each of us RM 300 cash vouchers to shop! Jizz!

It was tough for me to decide what i really wanted to buy because i felt quite heavy hearted to use up all the vouchers in one go. In the end, i decided to buy one bra and 5 cotton panties. The total came up to RM 228.

Two other bloggers i was with; Vivien and Ming

Mei Ling and Jeslyn from La Senza

It was truly a great experience. It’s such a nice feeling to unwrap newly bought goods once i get home. Here’s what i bought.

I would really recommend the La Senza Ultra Soft Thong if you wear a lot of bodycon skirts and body hugging dresses. It’s like an undercover secret agent.. only in underwear form. I also love their seamless, low rise boyshorts (the one in dark blue, bottom right)

Just so you know, La Senza is always selling their products in bundles like RM 89 for 5 of their cotton panties. And very soon, in fact now, they will be having a promotion.

When you buy one Double Push Up Bra, you can purchase a second piece for 50% off! The price for a Double Push Up Bra is RM 139, so that means you can purchase a second one for only RM 69.50!

60132_433503788996_133543348996_5264907_691636_n

And there’s only one place to stay updated with all these great deals. La Senza Malaysia is now on Facebook. Be sure to join them on Facebook and you’ll be on your way to buying La Senza at amazing prices.

I already joined them on Facebook and from what i can see, they’re really friendly on their page too. They really reply comments from customers and all. Oh and don’t forget to have a look at the Total Knockout tab to watch the commercials for the La Senza Double Push Up Bra. It super creative!

So check check. La Senza Malaysia Facebook page over here.

Now that i’ve told and shown you everything you need to know, here’s a little something extra for all of you ladies since we’re at this topic.

Don’t we all like cleavage?

I can tell that the girls in the video could use some Double Push Up Bra cause.. well.. it ain’t Hu Ge enough!

Hurts: Better Than Love

album-cover-low-res

British pop duo Hurts consists of Adam Anderson (right) and Theo Hutchcraft (left), two singer-songwriters who met and then started up a musical relationship online, making music together before they even knew each other.

If you watch MTV a lot, you’ve probably heard of them. They were featured on MTV PUSH around last month or so, if i’m not mistaken. I know because i saw them on tv while i was at the gym.

Well i wouldn’t say i’m a big fan of them yet, but i think that their music is rather nice. It’s like the kind of tune that sounds different yet familiar at the same time.

2

I know it’s a shallow thing to say but when i first saw their music video, the first thing i noticed was how good looking the singer was in the video. Theo Hutchcraft has this resemblance to Arthur from Inception. If you haven’t watched Inception then shame on you.

Looks aside, he also has a very nice voice. His voice reminds me of The Killers. Though his singing sounds a lot like The Killers, the music however is totally different.

Here’s a video of their first single. Honestly speaking, i think i’m starting to like the song. It took me 3 plays to appreciate it. Hope you’ll grow a liking for it like i did :)

Better Than Love is like dance music for depression.
