The Other Party; 240312

Today, a friend told me that he dreamt of attending my funeral. My blog’s funeral, that is. Oh dreams, you so funny sometimes. Well, that’s probably why i’m here now. It’s like a calling to return here and write something.

On another note, could you believe that it’s April already? Time really flies! Which makes me think, what the hell have i been doing lately?

Nope. No idea. I practically yaoming-ed my way through every day. It’s pretty much classes during the weekdays and drinks during the weekends. You know, the usual.

My mid-semester holiday is coming up. I’m getting a full week off and i’m looking forward to get a nice cold beer to that. It’s been a while since i had beer. Lately it’s been all whisky and shit. I feel like a sir.

Anyway, here’s some pictures of us getting our freak on at Bakita couple weeks ago. And by getting our freak on i meant drinking like fools.

That night, i met the world’s smallest tequila shot. Fortunately, Hoongmao took it up to the bartender. In return, the bartender gave us glasses that were equal to two shots of tequilas per glass.

And that, my friends, is the recipe for mabukz. Have two or maybe three of these and you’re good to go.

“Oh Jamie, you so alcoholic.”

No, i’m not. Drinking is a lifestyle.

Future Music Festival Asia 2012

After over a month of anticipation, the Future Music Festival is finally just days away! I just saw a couple of pictures from Australia’s Future Music Festival and it looks pretty damn good.

Though the line up down under tickles my pickles better, i’m still pretty psyched for this Saturday. It’s mainly cause the BA boys will be playing the closing set at the Gnome Stage and you have no idea how long i’ve waited to hear hard dance music live at an outdoor event.

I’ll see you this Saturday if you’re in for #FMFA!

NYE11

New year’s eve 2011. Now that’s something worth sharing.

You know, i was really looking forward to Chinese New Year this year. Only because i thought it would be something interesting to blog about. It’s the whole idea of wearing pretty new clothes, visiting friends and relatives, angpaus and whatnots.

Sounded like something this blog needs, right?

Well obviously it didn’t work out. I was practically sick for the whole month of January, which includes Chinese New Year. I didn’t have the liberty to consume whatever i want. From Chinese New Year cookies and snacks to alcohol. Not to mention that i was weak and tired most of the time.

You know what, come to think of it.. screw that. Even if i wasn’t sick, my Chinese New Year would still be boring anyways. LOL! /yaoming

So anyway, i figured that my new year’s eve was a lot more interesting compared to Chinese New Year. Mainly because it was a special date that my sister’s boyfriend chose to propose to her. The proposal took about a month to plan. And it wasn’t easy one since we were communicating solely through Whatsapp.

Le suite

The plan was complicated and constantly changing. The month of December was filled with mental stress coming from all directions. Up until the actual proposal was done.

To sum things up, i booked a suite at Hotel Maya and lead my sister to think that it was for our family to stay for the weekend. The truth is, the suite is for the both of them instead. She had no idea that her boyfriend will be coming from Singapore to surprise her with a proposal.

My job was to keep her occupied the whole day. It would’ve been relatively easy to do if it wasn’t for that massive hangover i woke up with that Saturday and my sister causing me mental stress early in the morning.

But the hangover eventually eased up when we checked into the suite that Saturday afternoon. The suite was beautiful. An instant mood lifter.

Fancy toiletries

Best view anyone can ask for on new year’s eve

The suite is perfect for couples. There’s a great view and mirrors at the right places, if you know what i mean. I owe it to Kel Li for hooking me up with such a sweet suite ;)

I tried to keep the room as clean as possible by not throwing my things around. After all my stay there was only temporary until Albert shows up.

Nonetheless, i had one of the most laid back Saturdays ever.

Room service

And what would a stay at a hotel be if you didn’t go to the pool.

Hydrotherapy

As the evening approaches, we both returned to our room and got ready for our family dinner.

When it was almost dinner time, i left our room to secretly meet up with Albert at the lobby. I gave him the room key and then it was all up to him.

Let’s just say that after that, everyone was already seated at the dinner table with champagne as the two walked in Maya Brasserie. One of which was my sister with a big shiny rock on her finger :)

While we toasted to the engagement, we also toasted to Pepsi for her birthday. New year’s even will always equals to mummy’s birthday. It’s tradition :)

And we all know what comes after a new year’s eve dinner..

PARTY TIME!

A new year’s eve special at our home ground, Zouk Barsonic with Mr Nasty and GuruGuru :)

I still can’t believe my sister is getting married this year! So happy for the both of them! I can’t wait to plan my sister’s hen’s night. I’ll make sure it has everything she would want :)

Kronenbourg 1664 L’Aperitif Fashion Launch

A couple of weeks ago, Kronenbourg hosted their first L’Aperitif Fashion at The View, G Tower. L’Aperitif Fashion is simply described as the glamourous French version of happy hour in Malaysia.

I have to say it’s rather glamourous indeed as there were a number of well-known icons gracing the event. I’m talking bout names like Jimmy Choo, Gillian Hung, Andrea Fonseka, Amber Chia and a few more.

So i went to the launch with Hoongmao. Bonnie and Clyde style. And the mission – DRINK ALL THE KRONENBOURG!

We were the cool kids *ahem* hanging out by the bar. All we did was order rounds Kronenbourg. We started of with the Kronenbourg 1664 and then moved on to the Kronenbourg Blanc. Mmmm.. draft beer.

Hoong / Blink

Dennis / Hoong

Saw a couple of familiar faces and all. But i was most shocked when i saw Sir Jimmy Choo walking past as i had no idea he was gonna be there. I was.. starstruck. I held on to Hoongmao and gasped, “Homaigod.. it’s Jimmy Choo!”

It’s the legendary Jimmy Choo! In the flesh!

Hoong asked if i would like to take a picture with him, but i said nooo TOO SHY, TOO SHY! Cause for some odd reason, i’d rather admire the legend from afar. With respect ( ̄^ ̄)ゞ

Tiny Diana

Kronenbourg did a real good job in pulling the night together. The venue had a fantastic view of the KLCC and the designs from Gallo by Thian were beautiful. Pictures won’t do enough justice, so i’ll let this video taken by Nigel show you guys :)

Halloween 2011

I must say, this year’s Halloween was a lot better compared to the other Halloween celebrations that i’ve been to in the past couple of years. Maybe it’s because i finally got to dress up in my all time “fantasy” costume – THE SAILOR!

Awww yeahhh!

But of course, other factors contributed as well.

My memory of Halloween is quite a bad one. My Halloweens often involve being squished in a tight place with loads of strangers. It just drains out all the fun factor. Thankfully this year was a decent one! :)

Friday, 29th October

We had a Halloween party at Bakita and i went as a captain. And uh.. my idea on my outfit was some what Girls’ Generation inspired. Hurhurhurhurhur

Charmander the soldier

Hoong is dressed as Alex DeLarge from Clockwork Orange. Only cool people would know that.

Don’t look at me, i had to google it too haha!

Bakita that night was pretty stuffy. I was kinda sweating my makeup off. It’s probably because the place was filled with people and the ventilation was a little off. But everything was all decent fun until..

Jovin showed up with Britney

We hit off instantly

Le FooLu babysitting Britney

BabyGiap’s new found love?

Jovin’s “costume” is a life jacket that he stole from an airplane. Don’t be like him, kids!

Now doesn’t this look like a scene from a particular movie?

Me as the captain of my Titanic and Jovin as one of the passengers who jumped off the ship with his life float, Britney. LOL!

Haha don’t mind me.

Nat Saw

And le Mario with her “cat” ears

Britney was certainly the highlight of the night

Oh and i think i got pretty drunk that night. We always go overboard at Bakita. It’s like one of the best places to get drunk cause of all the drink promos that they have.

Saturday, 30th October

The usual main event at Zouk.

Zouk is always crowded with people so i didn’t take much pictures. I was pretty much laying off the alcohol too after getting jacked up on the previous night.

Nasty candy

Mario fixing her Hitler mustache

My costume for that night was actually an impulse buy from Vanity Dreams. I just bought the slutty sailor school girl uniform without thinking bout whether would i actually wear it out or not.

Oh well, no turning back since i already paid for it right. The moment i placed my order, i already devised a plan on how to turn the stereotype slutty school girl around.

I decided to do.. Babydoll from Suckerpunch! I even had the samurai sword goin’ on. I’m glad that some people are able to recognize who i was trying to dress up as, phew!

Here’s a couple more pictures from Charmander.

I’m not really creative when it comes to Halloween. And since i finally achieved my sailor fantasy, who knows what’s next for next year?

Kronenbourg 1664 presents L’aperitif Fashion

And so December begins with more exciting news!

Exactly a year ago in December 2010, i came to know about a particular brand of beer during my vacation at Singapore. It’s called Kronenbourg.

Kronenbourg 1664 is France’s top selling premium beer with 350 years of brewing heritage. Created in 1664, Kronenbourg is the 5th oldest beer brand in the world and it’s the only beer to win a gold medal in the International Brewing Awards, twice.

Now here’s a little trivia; In May 2008, Kronenbourg was acquired by Carlsberg Breweries and is now part of the S&N acquisition. And as France’s top selling beer, it is said that more than one out of every five beers sold in France is a Kronenbourg.

Hoongmao and i were surprised to find Kronenbourg 1664 back in Malaysia earlier this year. We were at The Hill and Hoong was very happy to be reunited with the beer that he tasted and love back in Singapore.

There are two types of Kronenbourg.

The Kronenbourg 1664 is a pale lager that comes in a green bottle. It has a golden hue and a bittersweet taste that has a hint of acidity. The beer aroma has a dominant scent of flowery hops, citrus fruits and malt aroma.

Then there is the Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc.

The Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc is a white beer that comes in a distinctive blue bottle. It contains hints of coriander and cloves with a balance of citrus and fruity flavours.

Personally, i find this beer especially aromatic and sweet. I found this little baby just a couple of months ago during a Halloween party at Bakita. I had a sip of Hoongmao’s Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc and i instantly said, “Can i have the whole bottle?”

Next thing i knew, i was going for a second bottle.

Halloween 2011 at Bakita

Kronenbourg beer is brewed using only the finest ingredients, which include the Strisselspalt hop, also known as the “caviar of hops”. It uses selected barley and pure water from the Vosges mountains.

In Malaysia, Kronenbourg is available at certain outlets such as:

  • Bakita, Changkat Bukit Bintang
  • La Bodega, Pavilion
  • The Library
  • Ecoba
  • The Hill
  • The View, G Tower

And also at selected entertainment outlets in the Klang Valley, Penang, and Ipoh.

Whenever Hoongmao and i are at these outlets, our choice of beer would surely be Kronenbourg.

Now, here comes the main event.

On 15th December 2011, Kronenbourg will be hosting L’aperitif Fashion at The View, G Tower. L’aperitif Fashion is simply a glamourous version of happy hour combined with fashion featuring our very own local designer, Gallo by Thian .

Expect to see fashionable people all around, fine dining, display designs from Gallo by Thian and a makeup station by L’ancome. And of course, Kronenbourg 1664.

In courtesy of Kronenbourg, i will be giving away a pair of passes for L’aperitif Fashion happening on the 15th December 2011 at The View, G Tower.

All you gotta do is complete this:

I want to win the passes to the L’aperitif fashion event by Kronenbourg
because..

Leave me your answers and contact details by dropping me a comment by 10th December 2011.

Be sure to follow Kronenbourg on Twitter and like them on Facebook too. Kronenbourg will also be giving away limited edition Kronenbourg x Gallo bottle openers on Twitter.

I’m looking forward to seeing you guys at L’aperitif Fashion! I already have an outfit picked out and i can’t wait to wear it! :)
