Bangkok // Aug ’12

Earlier during the year, we found out that Sensation White was coming to Asia. Being one of the most legendary music events that originated from Europe, we knew that we just had to go for it.

Fortunately for us, the nearest country to us that Sensation will be making its stop was at Bangkok, Thailand. Ah… Bangkok. It’s the one place that i’ve visited more frequently than any other place outside of Malaysia.

So we bought our flight tickets and booked our hotels the moment our tickets for Sensation were confirmed and waited for August to arrive.

When August finally arrived, it was party time.

I’ve never bumped into so many familiar faces at the airport before. There were so many Malaysians flying over to Bangkok just for Sensation! It’s quite a nice feeling to see familiar faces on the same plane, traveling to the same place and knowing that everyone’s ready to party. It makes you feel more excited, you know?

I had a moment of self-reflection when i was filling up my visa. Now that i’ve graduated for college, i’m technically unemployed since i’m not a student anymore. Ah… the look of judgement on Hoongmao’s face as i wrote that.

Our arrival at Bangkok was delayed due to the weather. Unknowing to us, there were dark clouds hovering across the city and we had to circle around for quite a while until we could land safely. Not to mention the turbulence that we experienced.

We were greeted with a wet Bangkok when we arrived. It rained a lot during the evening while we were there, which was quite a bummer. But nonetheless, we made things work.

We all decided to take the train from the airport to the city to avoid the evening traffic. It was a good idea initially, but it turned out to be a little troublesome when we discovered the amount of stairs we had to go up and down while carrying our huge luggages. Well, not we but more like the boys  (n˘v˘•)

Everyone got a prepaid the moment we touched down. Aaand this is what happens

We stayed at Novotel Fenix together with Ningku and Charmander. It was a familiar place in Bangkok to return to for me and Hoongmao because it’s our second time staying at Novotel Fenix.

Our first time staying at Novotel Fenix was during our trip to Bangkok last year, which i have edited some of the pics from the trip but still yet to blog about. Ahem (n˘v˘•)

Anyway, we had dinner at a street stall that was just a minute’s walk away from the hotel. This is like the spot to go if you’re staying at Novotel Fenix and are too lazy to search far and wide for a place to eat.

Thai salad and tom yum soup

Fried pork and barbecue pork

Simply eaten with a packet of sticky rice. Simple and delicious. I absolutely loved the fried pork. I was particularly quiet during the meal because i was having a moment of silence for the delicious food. Mmm mmm! (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

For some reasons, i was totally exhausted when we got back to the hotel room after dinner. We were supposed to head out for some drinks after taking a disco nap, but i just decided to stay behind and sleep while the panda heads out with the boys.

I remember Hoong was like, “You come to Bangkok… to sleep.”

>:(

Well considering the fact that we will be experiencing consecutive days of partying starting next day onwards, i personally think it’s not such a bad idea to rest for one night lor. Right or not?

Right. So anyway, being in Bangkok is all about eating, drinking and shopping. And in addition if you’re with friends, partying. But let’s talk about eating.

There’s no way you can go hungry at Bangkok. The only time you’re hungry is when you slept too long at the hotel and have had nothing to eat yet. Almost everyday, Hoongmao and i will get our first snack of the day from this little stall just a couple of steps away from the hotel on the way to the train station.

It’s kinda like lok lok where you have all these food stuff on a stick. You pick what you want and hand it over to the goodman who will cook it over charcoal for you.

We always go for sausages. Two sausages – one chicken and one pork – each. Me and Hoongmao used to share one serving, but now we just get our own cause we’re greedy like that.

We then get to choose which of the two kinds of chili sauce we want to bathe our food in. We usually opt for both sauces cause why pick one when you can have both, right?

Who would’ve thought that the simplest things can taste so delicious.

And that’s our kickstart snack for you! We would usually then head to some place else for a solid lunch. In this case, we had some noodles from a stall at the alley beside the hotel.

Thai style wantan mee, to be more precise

We didn’t do much except meeting up with some people to talk about business that day. And by “we” i meant me escorting the panda to meet some people (◡‿◡)

Later that night, the boys had a gig at a fancy club in Sukhumvit.

Ermahgerd lerverls…

Charmander looked absolutely lovely and ladylike that night.

Imagine my thoughts when we both came out from our hotel rooms (our rooms are just right opposite each other) and i saw that she was dressed up fancy and all while i… was just wearing a cropped top and a black bodycon skirt, looking all slutty and shizz. Damn.

Weren’t we going for the slut look tonight?!

Foofoo in his ketupat shirt

For some reasons, the club ran out of whisky glasses and we had to use the tall ones. Look at us in that picture. It’s like we were drinking iced Chinese tea!

Sonia / Jean / Val

The girls really know how to party. Needless to say, we all drink drank drunk.

I’m just amazed that i didn’t wake up with a massive hangover the next day. I even managed to go shopping with the girls until the evening. We had to do some last minute shopping for our outfits to Sensation because the one that we brought wasn’t working out.

Initially we were supposed to dress up as sailors, but due to the fear of Sensation’s strict “white only” dress code we decided not to as the costume had quite a bit of blue.

So this is us all dressed up for Sensation!

Not bad huh considering the fact that i bought my entire outfit on that very same day. I’m just glad that they all fit me.

Redbull vodka for the journey

We experienced quite a bit of traffic outside the venue, but once we got there it was all smooth sailing. The event was very organized. We were surprised to see that there was no horrible cues at the ticket collection booths.

Mao~

Booze was considerably cheap for a rave

It was truly an experience. A world-class event. Everything was excellently planned from crowd management to performances. The location that they picked to host Sensation was also a good one.

It was the first time i ever went to a music event and not sweat! And since it was an indoor stadium, the air conditioning was cool all night long and there are seats for you whenever you get tired.

The major plus point would be the fact that the toilets are very near and there’s not one time the toilet ran out of toilet paper! And everyone knows how to piss!! It truly makes me happy when i walk into a clean cubicle and not have the toilet seat drenched in piss. Amazing.

The only setback for Sensation was the lineup. It was decent, but i wished we had better acts. Nonetheless, it was still one hell of an experience.

The following day was our last day at Bangkok. We all woke up extremely late and took things really slow. Imagine having your first meal at around 5pm.

We had our first meal at this place in Siam Paragon. Apparently the shark’s fin here is absolutely delicious but yeah yeah i know we’re not supposed to have shark’s fin cause it’s cruel and all. We didn’t have any and weren’t planning to, if you must know.

They have other things here that are worth eating too.

Crab meat fried rice / Crab claw with noodles / Veggies

Ermahgerd…

I know it’s not Thai food and you’re supposed to have Thai food when you’re at Thailand but what the hell. This place is worth visiting and i reckon you should once you’re done with exploring Thai food.

The Rocky Road

I knew i was going to have dessert at Cream & Fudge Factory the moment i saw it while walking pass it earlier. I imprinted myself on it. It was the chosen one. And i was right.

Right for making the right choice cause it was so damn good. It’s such a torture to blog about things (especially food) that you’ve had and can’t have right now. Torture, i say!

Later that night we had dinner with some friends at this place called…

There were condoms…. condoms everywhere.

The amount of food we had here is just too much so i’m gonna leave that out. They were all delicious but i’m just gonna save you from looking at too many food pics.

Check out Hoong’s artsy shot

And that’s bout it. This pretty much sums up what we did at Bangkok this time. Food, drinks, food, drinks, party party. Not so much on shopping but i did manage to get a couple of stuff, which i will be sharing soon :)

Crub // 140912

And here comes another blog post on one of my nights out during the weekend. “God, Jamie, is there anything else that you do other than party and drink?!” Well as a matter of fact i do. I just don’t document them all.

This one here is rather recent. It’s just a couple of weeks ago when my sister came back from Singapore for the weekend. We spent pretty much the whole day together running errands for her upcoming wedding and surprisingly, she still had the energy to go clubbing by the end of the day.

And so to the club we went.

A blurry picture of me cause the person who took it is lousy.

Note to self and every other girl, please tie up hair when going to Velvet at Zouk. There is not one time when i went to Velvet and not sweat my makeup off. That place is a hell hole  where people come to rub sweaty shoulders. I will never condemn anyone to this place.

And yet somehow fate always brings me to this place. Next time, i’ll be more prepared!

H-Artistry // 080912

Ah H-Artistry… where should i even begin?

Well to start things off, i guess we all know by now that every H-Artistry event will surely mean free flow of booze. It’s the place where every alcoholic, cheapskate alcohol freeloader and drunkard wants to be.

I mean, admit it. The reason why we all go to the event is mainly for the free booze. The last big H-Artistry that i went to was almost a year ago and i admit, i went for the free booze. But this time, it felt different. It wasn’t mainly for the booze.

I was really happy when i found out that the boys were asked to play for the event. After all they do deserve some acknowledgement and it’s about time they did. I was also quite excited for them because it will be their first time performing with the Nasty Helmets on.

So i guess i could say that we were there this time to support the boys… and then for the booze :D

It was also fun this time around because the ladyfriend came out to play after the longest time ever. It’s been ages since we two ladies roamed around together and it’s about time we did. Just two ladies, having a good time, having a good time.

When we arrived at the venue, we were ushered to the artist area along with the boys. They had their own room with snacks and beverages and of course, their very own bottle of Hennessy. They even had a portable a/c.

I personally don’t get to enjoy this treatment very often, so i might as well enjoy the ride right? :D

After a couple of drinks, it was time for us to head down while the boys go on standby. Now that’s when the adventure begins.

It’s sort of like an RPG cause we went on a little quest. Cause when we were chilling at the artist room earlier, Jingi mentioned i looked a little pale and i should put on some lipstick. So us two ladies decided to go on a little quest to retrieve my lipstick from makeup bag back in the car.

I thought it was quite a funny journey cause we looked like two bimbos waddling in sky high heels while speaking Lady. Not to mention that we were a little under the influence of alcohol.

When we got back, we found Brian who then joined the party. From then onwards, we began on our journey to mabukness.

My outfit: Top from Bangkok / Skirt from NakedKimchi / Shoes from Aldo / Clutch from  Topshop

Lady Aw

Two ladies along with FooFoo (picture stolen from Foofoo’s Instagram)

According to Brian, i went from normal to full out mabuk from this point onwards within the span of two drinks. Don’t ask me how is that even possible cause apparently, it is.

Now this doesn’t happen very often, so if you happen to see me in that state last night, you’re lucky. LOL! But i think i handled it pretty well cause i seem pretty okay in the pictures on Facebook :D

And that my friends, is what you call maintain. You can be all fucked up and shizz, but you gotta maintain your style yo.

At one point we all got separated, so i retreated back to the artist room when the boys were done with their set. Then, a fail moment happened.

I took out my camera to go through some of the pictures and suddenly, “Wtf, this isn’t my camera!!”

I thought my camera went missing and was holding someone else’s camera instead and i panicked. Five minutes later, i remembered that earlier during the night, i told Brian to hold on to my camera and take some pictures for me. Drunk me couldn’t recognize the pictures that Brian took and mistaken that i was holding someone else’s camera instead!

*FACEPALM*

And that my friends, is what you call potato. I think my brain is turning into mush. That was the mabuk peak for the night. I stopped drinking after that and sobered up instead. Amazingly, we even made it back to Barsonic at 1am. Talk about one hell of a night.

Anyway, it was all good fun. Can’t wait for the next adventure with Lady Aw and FooFoo. I say, we make quite an interesting party together.

Can you spot me in this picture, by the way? (*´艸`*)

Kel Li’s Hens Night // 010912

Today, a follower on Twitter so nicely said that she can’t wait to see my next blog update, which i took it as a hint that it’s about time i wrote something on my blog. So here i am now updating my blog!

Last Saturday, i had the pleasure of attending Kel Li’s hens night.

Believe it or not, the night was solely planned through emails! With that being said, it took like two months of discussion and preparations. And as the date approaches, i found myself shopping last minute for something to wear on that night.

The theme of the night was Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Fortunately, i was able to find the perfect dress (picture on Instagram) to wear for the theme.

We also had a beautiful suite at Hotel Maya to ourselves in courtesy of the bride-to-be. The girls definitely made good use of the dressing room. We all dolled up together before being chauffeured to Acme Bar & Coffee for dinner.

Chicken Fajitas Salad / Smoked Duck Breast Pasta / Grilled Marinated Lamb Shoulder

We ordered a number of dishes for sharing, but these three captured my heart the most. Nonetheless, i’ll have to admit that the food here is quite delish. Even the bride-to-be approves!

After our meal, we played a couple of rounds of Truth and Dare and yours truly was the game master. To be honest, i felt immense pressure as it was my first hens night. But i think i did quite well in the end. Now imagine if i had tequila *ahem*

Now i’m not gonna reveal detail for detail on how the hens night went down cause i believe that’s Kel Li’s job. But where’s the fun in that right so here are some pictures! :)

Extremely cute and fun props that were DIY-ed by Joanna

After having some fun, we returned back to our suite to get our drinking on with even more games. Obviously we headed to Zouk after cause it would be a sin not to since we’re literally right across the street!

I have to say one thing though. The bride-to-be was not drunk enough!!

Post-hens night, maybe? :D

Birthdays!

Alright it’s time i get around the procrastination and get some real work done around here.

So i’ve been soaking up a lot of me time since the holidays started about a couple of weeks ago. I’m running out of things to do so i figured it’s time to come back crawling to my blog (^□^*)

It’s November now. And it has been officially a month since my 21st birthday. October has got to be one of my favourite months in the year cause both of our birthdays is on October. Double the pleasure, double the fun!

My birthday this year was probably one of the most pampered birthdays i’ve ever had. There wasn’t any fancy soiree or anything, but nonetheless it felt great cause it lasted throughout the whole weekend.

Thursday, 6th October

There’s a couple of food that i’d like to try once in my life and one of them is fugu. The ever so exotic and potentially life threatening puffer fish. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?

So on the eve of my birthday, Hoongmao took me for dinner at a nice Japanese restaurant at the Hilton that serves fugu.

BUT!

Unfortunately we completely forgot about the fugu and by the time we realized, it was too late. We were already done with our dinner and were too full to eat anything else :(

It’s okay though. At least dinner was still good :)

Mugshots :)

Lamb teppanyaki

Miso soup with lobster (´ε` )

And what’s Japanese without sake :)

ヽ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

Headed over to the newly opened Vertigo at Gardens after

Birthdays and flamings. I really wonder who came up with that. It’s like mandatory to have flamings on birthdays. I think i had two that night.

Also, i popped my first bottle of champagne on my own! Much love to Hoongmao and Jet :)

Jet / Kok “Niekon” Wing

For some reasons, i also got a lot of pats on my head that night. Maybe cause i’m always the youngest around the pack. So for the youngest to finally become an adult well.. i guess i do deserve them pats on my head ( ´ ▽ ` )

Friday, 7th October

I had dinner with my family and some relatives that night. And to Zouk after for some drinks.

BEST. BIRTHDAY. CAKE. EVER!

♡(´ε` )

Seriously kids, flamings are no fun. Unless you’re German or something, then you’ll probably enjoy flamings.

True story.

On a more serious note, i’ve learnt that it’s not about how much can you drink anymore. It’s all about having a good time. I dunno, maybe it’s the “age talk”. Lessons that you learn as you grow older.

There’s nothing cool about drunkards causing a scene. What more if you’re a lady.

But the birthdays and flamings rule still applies though. You gotta have at least one flaming, right?

Balloons from the ladyfriend! ♡

IT’S STILL MY BIRTHDAY! ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

Dinner at Brotzeit in courtesy of AhJie and Alberto

Pork ribs

Pork knuckle

And those were just some of the food that we ordered. Ughhh for three consecutive days i was being stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey. Not saying it’s a bad thing though. It’s good to be showered with food.. and love.

I finally got to try the much talked about mango beer too. Mmm.. Affensaft. It tastes pretty much like plain mango juice, really. Nonetheless, it’s tastes good :)

Cherrybomb ♡

Much much love for my sister and parents. Wouldn’t wanna say too much over here cause i gotta stay a tough cookie. But i’m sure you know how it goes, right :)

Wednesday, 12th October

Brought le panda out for a nice dinner at Leonardo’s on his birthday.

I’m really glad i picked Leonardo’s for dinner. Their service is excellent, the food is really good and the price is reasonable. Until now i still can’t get over their fantastic service. It’s really top notch!

Pig tail minestrone soup

Mine; shoulder loin steak

Le Panda; mixed grill

In case you’re wondering what i got him for his birthday, you can always ask him what time it is. Hint hint ( ´ ▽ ` )

Well that’s about it for now. There’s more to Hoongmao’s birthday celebration but i’ll leave that for next time :)
