Mr. Nasty – Barsonic Minimix Vol. 5
This minimix came up on my iPod just earlier and i realized that i haven’t told you guys how much i like this little fellow over here.
Loving the super combo that starts from Sweet Dreams → Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites → Save the World → Awooga and then finishing it off with Cinema in the end.
It drives me nuts.
Blue Box

A box in a box – Boxception.
I know some of you are curious, but you can actually see what Hoongmao got for me in my previous post. I was wearing it on the day of my actual birthday :)
Birthdays!
Alright it’s time i get around the procrastination and get some real work done around here.
So i’ve been soaking up a lot of me time since the holidays started about a couple of weeks ago. I’m running out of things to do so i figured it’s time to come back crawling to my blog (^□^*)
It’s November now. And it has been officially a month since my 21st birthday. October has got to be one of my favourite months in the year cause both of our birthdays is on October. Double the pleasure, double the fun!
My birthday this year was probably one of the most pampered birthdays i’ve ever had. There wasn’t any fancy soiree or anything, but nonetheless it felt great cause it lasted throughout the whole weekend.
Thursday, 6th October

There’s a couple of food that i’d like to try once in my life and one of them is fugu. The ever so exotic and potentially life threatening puffer fish. Sounds exciting, doesn’t it?
So on the eve of my birthday, Hoongmao took me for dinner at a nice Japanese restaurant at the Hilton that serves fugu.
BUT!
Unfortunately we completely forgot about the fugu and by the time we realized, it was too late. We were already done with our dinner and were too full to eat anything else :(
It’s okay though. At least dinner was still good :)

Mugshots :)

Lamb teppanyaki

Miso soup with lobster (´ε` )

And what’s Japanese without sake :)

ヽ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ

Headed over to the newly opened Vertigo at Gardens after

Birthdays and flamings. I really wonder who came up with that. It’s like mandatory to have flamings on birthdays. I think i had two that night.
Also, i popped my first bottle of champagne on my own! Much love to Hoongmao and Jet :)

Jet / Kok “Niekon” Wing
For some reasons, i also got a lot of pats on my head that night. Maybe cause i’m always the youngest around the pack. So for the youngest to finally become an adult well.. i guess i do deserve them pats on my head ( ´ ▽ ` )
Friday, 7th October
I had dinner with my family and some relatives that night. And to Zouk after for some drinks.

BEST. BIRTHDAY. CAKE. EVER!

♡(´ε` )

Seriously kids, flamings are no fun. Unless you’re German or something, then you’ll probably enjoy flamings.
True story.
On a more serious note, i’ve learnt that it’s not about how much can you drink anymore. It’s all about having a good time. I dunno, maybe it’s the “age talk”. Lessons that you learn as you grow older.
There’s nothing cool about drunkards causing a scene. What more if you’re a lady.
But the birthdays and flamings rule still applies though. You gotta have at least one flaming, right?

Balloons from the ladyfriend! ♡

IT’S STILL MY BIRTHDAY! ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ

Dinner at Brotzeit in courtesy of AhJie and Alberto

Pork ribs

Pork knuckle
And those were just some of the food that we ordered. Ughhh for three consecutive days i was being stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey. Not saying it’s a bad thing though. It’s good to be showered with food.. and love.
I finally got to try the much talked about mango beer too. Mmm.. Affensaft. It tastes pretty much like plain mango juice, really. Nonetheless, it’s tastes good :)

Cherrybomb ♡
Much much love for my sister and parents. Wouldn’t wanna say too much over here cause i gotta stay a tough cookie. But i’m sure you know how it goes, right :)
Wednesday, 12th October

Brought le panda out for a nice dinner at Leonardo’s on his birthday.
I’m really glad i picked Leonardo’s for dinner. Their service is excellent, the food is really good and the price is reasonable. Until now i still can’t get over their fantastic service. It’s really top notch!

Pig tail minestrone soup

Mine; shoulder loin steak

Le Panda; mixed grill

In case you’re wondering what i got him for his birthday, you can always ask him what time it is. Hint hint ( ´ ▽ ` )
Well that’s about it for now. There’s more to Hoongmao’s birthday celebration but i’ll leave that for next time :)

I heard that you guys like Pumped Up Kicks, so here’s another one from Foster The People. It’s one of my favourites from the album and i hope you’ll like it as much as i do. I’ll definitely be sharing more of their album next time :)
Bangkok x Singapore 2010
Oh how time flies!
I’m saying that cause Hoongmao and i are planning for our next trip to Bangkok again! It’s a trip that he tries to go every year to pay holy respects to the temple there.
Anddd i’m saying this cause i’ve yet to post pictures from our trip last year. LOL!
Back in December 2010 i wrote a pre-post about our holiday trip saying that we were gonna go to Bangkok for a couple of days, then fly over to Singapore for Zouk Out 2010. Supastar jet-setters indeed!
It was our first holiday together with just the two of us and no one else. I have to say that it was one of the best holidays i’ve ever had. Except for the part where we got to Singapore. Singapore was shit cause Zouk Out 2010 was shit.
Anyway!
Hoong got us a really nice hotel to stay at in Bangkok. It’s so nice that it’s Barney-thumbs-up worthy. And we really missed the hotel a lot after we left.
It’s called Dream Hotel. Although it’s some what a distance away from the shopping areas, we really didn’t mind.

The hotel lobby
Personally, i think everything about the hotel was fantastic. From the interiors to the service. The hotel staffs were really friendly and useful. They would always call a cab for you while you lounge around inside. And a cab would usually arrive very quickly. It’s like first class, baby.

You can also grab these little cards from the reception. It’s really convenient if you’re planning to take a cab a lot. Or if you’re not really good at saying where you wanna go.
Just hand it over to your driver and he’ll take to where ever! It has Thai printed on it too so that it’s more convenient for the driver.

And welcome to our super cosy room!

A nice big TV!
The hotel also had free DVD rentals at the reception. The selection of movies to borrow is quite little, but hey it’s free!
One night, we borrowed Pulp Fiction :)

A rather comfortable bathroom too
I know it’s no big deal, but i’d like to point out that they would always give new bottles of water everyday too. It’s about the service, you know.

Anyway, it was late afternoon when we arrived. We decided to head out shortly after to make full use of our day.
When we were downstairs, i was taking some pictures around the lobby while we were waiting for our cab. A hotel staff came and kindly offered to help take a picture of us, so we obliged. See what i told you bout this hotel?!
It’s awesome!

And this is us almost a year ago. Once again, seeing him with short hair just feels weird haha

We took the train a couple of times too cause the station was somewhat nearby

Hawker stalls outside Central

I love these stuff!

Then we had some beef noodles at the Platinum Mall food court
Having beef noodles there is somewhat like tradition to me. Every time i go to Bangkok, i’m sure to go to Platinum Mall. And when i’m at Platinum Mall, i’d always have this beef noodle at the food court.
This time however i tried something new – cantaloupe juice. It was one of the most awesome juices i’ve had! I’m so glad that Sonia asked me to try it :)

We visited the Erawan Shrine outside Grand Hyatt Hotel

And of course some foot massage to end the day
The next day, we planned to visit the Golden Mount temple for some prayers. But before we left the hotel, we discovered probably the best hotel breakfast ever.

Starters for me

Scrambled eggs with loads of stuff in it like ham, mushrooms and tomatoes upon request

And of course, the main course
I was like

I loved everything they had there! If i was in an anime, i would be running through a meadow field with tears of joy in my eyes.
The choices they served for breakfast was awesome. And they had BACON. Just the way i liked it too. This is the kind of breakfast that i would love to wake up to everyday and we did have breakfast at the hotel everyday.
And off we go to Golden Mount!

It was a long climb up, but it wasn’t too bad

Was tired but managed to strike a pose anyway #likeabaus
Oh and i got sounded by the lady behind the counter selling bells for wearing shorts. Yeah yeah i should know better, but i only brought shorts to Bangkok cause the weather is mad hot. Message received, lesson learnt.

Hanging bells on the top

Then i forgot what we did after. LOL! That’s what you get for blogging something almost a year later.
I think we might have went shopping a little. Hmm.. *shrugs*

As we were heading back to the hotel, we came across a street vendor selling all sorts of buggy snacks. We decided to buy some back to the room.
The grasshopper tasted okay, somewhat like salty peanuts. I had no problem eating the grasshopper, but i took a really long time to have the guts to put the silkworm into my mouth. Like a really long time.
A friend of ours told us that the wormies taste like chicken flavoured Twisties.
True enough, it did. LOL!
After that, i preferred nibbling on the worms instead of the grasshoppers. We couldn’t finish it all, so we gave them to one of the hotel staffs for being so nice.

Night out at Khaosan

Had some padthai
The padthai we had at Khaosan was okay. Padthai is always good. But it was nothing compared to a shabby street stall we had our dinner at the night before. It was just a random stall by the longkang. We didn’t know where to eat so we just ate there on the way back.
And my god, the padthai was.. heavenly. To think that it came from a shabby stall beside the longkang.
But padthai is still padthai. And padthai is always good.

Still love these!

Simple but pretty awesome porridge

Random dessert stall. I saw a lot of locals ordering so i wanted some too

And drinks at a random place
We spent the next day shopping. It was also our last day at Bangkok before leaving for Singapore the day after.

Last dinner at Bangkok

Kiddy plate. Not that i’m complaining or anything..

Then the next day, we headed back to KL to catch our next flight to Singapore. When we got back to KL, all hell broke loose. Our flight got delayed for a few hours and we had nowhere to go. We tried finding a temporary stay at Tune Hotels but it was full booked.
Then when we finally arrived at Singapore, the queue to catch a cab at the airport was crazy long. I reckon cause the whole world is coming to Singapore for Zouk Out.
When we finally got to our hotel, we found out that our room is a lot more compact from what we have seen on their website. It was even hard to get a decent picture, but i took some anyways.
Here’s our room at Moon Hotel, Singapore.

This is the walkway of the room, which would require careful movements cause it’s so narrow.
The entrance to the room is on the left, and the toilet and bathroom is on the right. You can spot the sink where the round vanity mirror is on the right. Personally i thought it was odd to place the sink outside.
Then at the back, it’s like a confined space for the bed where you have to step up onto a platform and the bed will be on the floor.

You see the curtains on the left side of the bed?
Well there’s no window over there. Behind it is just a plain wall. It’s kinda funny cause i was really tricked.
On the right side of the bed, there’s a small corner for the miscellaneous items. And a glass window that sees through the shower. And that’s about it!
To be honest, i would really consider this cosy and all. Really. I’m not that fussy.
But the fact that the hotel provided bad service really pissed me off! I figured that the hotel was gonna suck the moment we checked in cause the service at the reception was shit.

They didn’t even have room service :(
We had to walk out along Dickson Road and scavenge for a place to have dinner despite being so tired. Boy were we spoiled big time by Dream Hotel in Bangkok.
After that, the panda took a nap while i went on by getting ready for Zouk Out cause.. well, there’s no rest for the wicked! Hurhur more like the vain needs more time to do makeup and all, yeh.

Smuggling some beer we bought at 7-11 by using a laundry bag, LOL!

The phone lines were super congested, but managed to meet up with Ahjie

Ahjie and friends

Beer was expensive there. Good thing we smuggled some in

Heee :3

Jovi and Kok Wing! Bet they were seeing vivid

The main stage was packed like fuck while the other stages were boring as hell, so i don’t know which is worst

Managed to find le Mario :D

About 7am

<3 <3

Then, it was a very gruesome journey home. Thinking bout it today makes me feel like as though i survived the sinking of Titanic. Or any “life-changing” incident that’s survivor related.
It was sooo bad that we decided to change our flight last minute to the next day and booked another night’s stay at another hotel. I shall leave it as that. What made the journey back so horrible shall remain a mystery.
But just know that by the time we got back to Moon Hotel, it felt like we swam across piranha-infested waters and ran through a pack of hungry hyenas. Fucking beat!
And stupid Moon Hotel wouldn’t even let us use their computer to change our flight! Instead, they asked us to go out to a cybercafe some place else!!
Stupid max.
It’s a good thing we moved back into the city center to Marina Mandarin instead, where we will be treated better, like real guests. Hmpf!
We practically hibernated when we got there. And of course rolled around in the luxury of the great Marina Mandarin *swoons*

Aftermath; taking the MRT to Ion Mall for dinner
If you look at the picture closely, you can see a red spot on my heel. I stepped on something sharp at Zouk Out and it cut my skin quite deep so i bleeded quite a bit. It hurt but i think it was no big deal.
The day was our flight back home to KL.

Had some time to kill at Changi Airport and i bought this Cookie Monster hand puppet from a toy store. It was pretty handy considering the amount of time we had to kill. Now was that a pun or what? :o

I LOLed!

Aww :)
I guess overall it was still good. It’s quite an experience and i’m glad that i had him with me when it all happened, both good and bad. Thanks for everything, love :)
