Review: The Body Shop Blue Corn 3-in-1 Deep Cleansing Mask
So it’s been ages since my Cellnique Advanced Bio Renewal Masque ran out. It’s quite a shame that i’m not gonna buy another one because i thought it’s pretty pricey to keep on repurchasing it.
Since then i’ve been using St. Ives apricot scrub and to be honest, i thought the results were just meh. I thought it’s high time for me to look for another facial scrub so i went to the first brand that came to my mind – The Body Shop.
You see, i’ve always wanted to get something from there but i never found a reason to until now. And they have exactly that i was looking for – a facial mask that was meant for deep cleansing and exfoliation.

And who knew that there was such thing as blue corn?
I looked up for some reviews on this product online and they all seemed pretty good. Since every review i read gave positive responses, i was set on buying this product for sure.
Key ingredients
Blue corn powder
Gently exfoliates the skin, removing dead skin cells, excess oils and dirt. Helps the native American community to continue traditional agricultural production and preserve cultural heritage.Glycerin
Is an effective moisturizer which helps improve softness and maximize hydration.Kaolin clay
Helps control shine. Deeply cleanses, drawing out impurities from the skin. Is a mineral that helps to restore the skin’s natural balance.
Product details
It comes in a little tub around the size of your palm. Despite its size, it looks like it could last you quite a long time cause you only need a little amount per use. It costs RM 55.
Also, this product is more suited for normal to oily skin. If you have very dry or sensitive skin, i reckon you try the Honey & Oat 3-in-1 Scrub Mask instead.
However if you’re still persistent on trying this product, then i’d recommend you slap on tons of hydrating products or even another hydrating mask right after using it.
Application
Cleanse skin and pat dry before applying a generous layer of the mask to the face, avoiding the eye and lip areas. Leave on for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water (mask will not dry). Use one to two times per week after cleansing.
And that is according to the website. However on the product itself, the direction to use says to apply on wet skin after cleansing. Personally, i prefer to applying it on wet skin.
I use a spatula to scoop some of the product out from the tub and then apply it on my face. Then i use a facial brush to spread the mask. You can get these tools from SaSa.
I leave it on for about 13 minutes and then i’ll wet my face and give it a little massage before washing it off.
Texture
The texture of the mask is rather rough. In fact, it’s rougher than the scrub from St. Ives. Those with sensitive skin should be careful and gentle when massaging before washing the mask off.

Smell
I wouldn’t say it smells super good and delicious. It has some kind of unique smell. It doesn’t bother me, in fact i think i kinda like it. I can’t say the same for other people though.
Results

Before and after
I can’t really say that there’s a huge difference, but i suppose there is a little.
There’s a nice little glow on my skin after using the mask. Probably cause all the dead skin got exfoliated away. But i think didn’t do much for my blackheads.
Verdict
This product can be quite good if you use it regularly. It cleanses your skin and reduces the chances of your pores getting clogged.
However if you already have badly congested pores, i don’t think this product would solve your problem. If that’s the case, it would be best to go for a facial and an extraction. Once you got everything that’s stuck deep within your pores out, you can start using this product to maintain your skin.
I hope you guys found this review helpful! :)
